Poker Player Bio - Annie Duke

Annie Duke Poker Player BioAnnie Duke is one of the world’s most successful and well known female figures in the poker circuit. She was raised playing cards, and is one of two children who became a professional poker player. Her brother, Howard Lederer a pro at Full Tilt Poker coached and backed Annie when she made the move from psychology to play poker. She not only had the determination to succeed but her previous studies in psychology assisted her in competing with some of the best players in the world. An interesting aspect is although she is one of the most successful female players, she refuses to take part in any women’s only tournaments, claiming that there is no reason a women should need to compete only with other women.

In the 2000 World Series of Poker, Annie, who at the time was eight months pregnant finished shy of one spot to make the final table of the Main Event. Although she has never won the championship, she has earned herself one bracelet which was won in the 2004 WSOP Omaha Hi-Lo. That same year she was also mentioned in many of the tabloids for her part in tutoring Ben Affleck.

She currently holds the record for the most in the money finishes among the other female players and has made several televised appearances. Annie Duke is now an endorsed player for Ultimate Bet and writes frequently on her blog as well as a few magazines/blogs.
